A) Someone worked it out and posted it on wiki.... and it wasnt just 1 person, probably quite a few

B) are they just so clever that only they are able to and everyone else has to look it up?

C) It does what anet wants it to do.... it makes US (yes US the GW population) work as a team. And it does that very well -> Druids yesterday was a beehive of activity with people working out where to go and what to do!

D) In Real life people DONT have green arrows above their head and when you look at maps there are NOT flashing green stars showing you where to go!

D part 2) YES in real life we do have paper and pens so in theory we could have a quest book.... HOLD UP!!!!!!! You want a guest log in game.... GET A SCRAP OF PAPER AND WRITE IT DOWN!!!!! Thats all a quest log is afterall?!?!?! DIY QUEST LOG ftw!

E) This is a role playing game, get in the role, play the game and work it out.

F) Whine whine whine is that all Guru is becoming these days?

I agree, scavenger hunts are not good design. A dozen people will do it and then everyone else just reads the answer. If they're going to be included at all they should have like 50 random spawn points on a map and you should know what the map is.

I agree that telling us to search Kryta was ridiculous. At least telling us some sort of landmark to look for or recognize would be nice.

"The last traces of Kieran were seen near the shore." Something like that, at least it wouldn't lead us tromping through the swamps.

Reminds me of Oblivion, really. And I liked it. It wouldn't always give you a marker, but it would give you something to look for rather than just "Somewhere on earth."

You say that like they never actually gave us any clues on where he might have gone.

Read those clues. He's headed in the opposite direction from them. Those clues lead to a non-existent zone on the game map, and continue with him being headed back home.

Finding where the story continued was only an exercise in throwing on a running build and racing through random zones (not even adjacent to where the story left off). I started to search for it myself, but then I remembered how things were designed in this game and wisely chose the wiki to save a complete waste of game playing time.

That 'clue' sent us to the completely wrong part of the Giant's Basin. The dialog discusses Lesser Giant's Basin, the shore of Scoundrel's Rise. That's not where the arrowhead was found.

Kieran would have had to have a massively convoluted trek. Either escape to Scoundrel's Rise, swim to the north side of the lake, bury Langmar, and swim back, or he would have had to fight through the massive army of White Mantle heading for LA to end up at the watchtower coast.

This is one situation where the hints made no logical sense and some kind of quest marker would have helped.

Bingo. From the clues I was thinking they opened up the island on the north side of Watchtower coast and that's where we'd find him. Or the buildings north of Divinity Coast. Instead he went SOUTH!!!!! to Talmark Wilderness and Majesty's Rest?

Look at the dialogues and see that Giant's Basin extends to the north from the Ascalon Settlement, and the clues directed us towards the Far Shiverpeaks. Where else do you see Jotun?

And with the non-obvious location of the embedded arrowhead, I wasn't about to go running around looking for a needle in a haystack when I've already done my cartography.

While I found the items with ease (they were logically placed but took some guesswork) I do think there should be quest markers to the area of the item.
